Data Sharing Agreements

Data Sharing Agreements are managed by the Data Protection Officer and used by organisations, for example, Health Boards, to detail the reasons for sharing data and the planned use of the data.

Important - When a practice agrees to this, they are opting in to share patient identifiable data.

The agreement can be set at two levels:

  • Organisation Agreement
This applies to all the extracts owned by the organisation.
  • Extract Agreement
This applies to the specific extract only, if there is also an Organisation Agreement, then the Extract Agreement overrides this.

The following sections detail how to create and manage disclaimers:

When an agreement has been added/updated, each practice receives an alert by email, and when accessing Outcomes Manager GP can update their preferences via Administration - Patient Data Opt in.

The Data Sharing Agreement also displays as they set their consent preferences.

Note - Patients can opt out of data sharing. See - Patient Extracts.
